Don’t Miss Katie Dahl and Peter Mulvey Live – January 6

TAP will kick off 2023 with a live performance, one night only, featuring two musicians who are Door County favorites. We are so excited to feature Katie Dahl and Peter Mulvey live on January 6, 2023 at 7:30PM.

Katie Dahl is a songwriter and playwright whose work is as expansive as Lake Michigan and as deeply rooted as its rocky coastal bluffs. A small-town celebrity on the Wisconsin peninsula where her family has lived for 175 years, she is now a radio-charting folk artist who tours around the world. Clear-eyed and tough-minded, fresh and funny, Katie “delivers razor-sharp lyrics with a hearty, soulful voice” (American Songwriter).

Peter Mulvey has been a songwriter, road-dog, raconteur and almost-poet since before he can remember. Raised working-class Catholic on the Northwest side of Milwaukee, he took a semester in Ireland, and immediately began cutting classes to busk on Grafton Street in Dublin and hitchhike through the country, finding whatever gigs he could. Back stateside, he spent a couple years gigging in the Midwest before lighting out for Boston, where he returned to busking (this time in the subway) and coffeehouses. Small shows led to larger shows, which eventually led to regional and then national and international touring.

Artistic Director Jacob Janssen says of the upcoming performance, “This is a great opportunity to experience the amazing music that Door County has to offer. These two are really talented, and we’re lucky to be able to host them for this performance.”

Katie Dahl and Peter Mulvey will perform live January 6, 2023, 7:30PM at Third Avenue PlayWorks, 239 N 3rd Avenue, Sturgeon Bay, WI 54235. Tickets are $25 for general admission. To purchase tickets, call (920) 743-1760 or visit the website: Katie Dahl & Peter Mulvey Live at TAP – Third Avenue PlayWorks.

Community Partner – Feed and Clothe My People

As we get ready to ring out 2022 with A CHRISTMAS CAROL: A LIVE RADIO PLAY, we’re excited to share our final Community Partner for the year: Feed and Clothe My People. As with all of our productions in 2022, the first preview performance of the show will be “Pay-What-You-Will”, with all proceeds benefiting our community partner!

Learn a bit more about this great organization below:

Feed and Clothe My People (FMP) is a charitable organization formed in 1982 by Bev Hogan, Bev Knutson and Reverend Burke Johnson for the purpose of providing sustenance to local residents in need.

The program was initially designed to meet emergency needs only. As the number of residents in need of food and clothing increased, so had the scope of required services. As a result, it was decided that having a single location for the operation was necessary to coordinate activities between the various programs. In addition, the Board of Directors was expanded and the search for a new location commenced to increase operational efficiency and bring all facets of the program under one roof. After an exhaustive search, the Board purchased the old skating rink on 14th Avenue. With a few bequests and donations specifically designated for permanent relocation as down payment, the FMP organization was able to secure a mortgage and the new building opened for business in July of 2000. In summer of 2004, FMP of Door County joined Second Harvest, now known as Feeding America, which is a national food distribution center that sells food to pantries like ours at far below market prices. On August 31, 2004, due to a generous donation, the mortgage debt was officially retired. The building now belongs to Feed and Clothe My People.

Our mission is as strong as ever! A great share of our success depends on donations from those who can assist us financially, as well as through various food and clothing contributions. We wish to thank all those who have supported FMP in the past and we look forward to meeting and exceeding expectations and keep our founder’s dreams alive and well.

Join TAP on December 11 at 2:00PM for the Pay-What-You-Will preview of A CHRISTMAS CAROL: A LIVE RADIO PLAY. Contribute what you can – and know that it will be supporting this great work in Door County! Get in the holiday spirit with complimentary hot apple cider before the show.
