Light Up TAP

Help preserve the past and light up the future of TAP!

The town is abuzz with the news that Third Avenue Playhouse —where magic of all kinds happens —is being fully renovated. COVID may have temporarily dimmed TAP’s lights but we will be bouncing back brighter than ever later this summer with a beautifully updated theatre and a facade that pays homage to its 1908 origins. Thanks to overwhelming community support and a very generous donation from Gwenn and Joe Graboyes, the 1950’s historic marquee will be completely restored and TAP will once again “light up its stars” in the marquee.

The 70-year-old landmark marquee stands proud and bright, a welcoming beacon at the north end of the Third Avenue business district. The marquee sparks memories for so many people in this community: the thrill of going to the movies for the first time, stolen first kisses in the back row, the painted operatic characters looming large along the side walls, and the collective good energy felt by all those who came together to enjoy a night out in downtown Sturgeon Bay.

Your donation today will help to light up not only the marquee, but also a brilliant new performance space where TAP can continue to delight audiences with its renowned theatre productions.

Click here to make your donation online. Or print and complete the form below to mail your donation.

Once you’ve donated, print and return the light bulb (feel free to add your name and/or message) and we will post it in TAP’s office window on Third Avenue. Let’s overflow the windows with cutout light bulbs to show the strength and commitment of our community to the cultural institutions that make Door County a better place to live. Your contribution not only preserves treasured memories, but also supports the inspiration, vitality, and activity of TAP’s future theatre productions—for decades to come.
