Aretha Sills teaches improvisational theater internationally. She’s led workshops for Northwestern University, Stella Adler Studio of Acting, Sarah Lawrence College, and the Ed Asner Family Center. Her parents, Paul and Carol Sills, settled in Door County when she was a baby. She studied the theater games of Viola Spolin with her father (founding director of The Second City and Story Theater, and Spolin’s son). Aretha loves working with educators and has trained faculty from many schools including The Second City and The Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science. She created and directs an educational show currently touring Los Angeles elementary schools and has given keynote addresses at the California Educational Theatre Conference and the Applied Improvisation Network Conference. She received her MFA from UC Riverside, where she later taught creative writing. Aretha lives in Sister Bay with her family and she’s thrilled to help bring educational programming to the community.
