Onstage next at Third Avenue PlayWorks (TAP) is The 39 Steps, a fast-paced thriller based on the Alfred Hitchcock movie of the same name.
A parody of the 1935 adventure film, the play is re-enacted by a cast of only four actors. It follows the adventures of a handsome hero, Richard Hannay, as he encounters dastardly murders and double-crossing secret agents.
The Sturgeon Bay Band Parent Organization is the community partner for the play, which runs July 16 through Aug. 10.
The shows start with a pay-what-you-will preview on July 16, 7:30 pm, followed by a final preview on July 17, 2 pm, and opening night on July 18, 7:30 pm. The show will be performed Wednesday through Saturday evenings at 7:30 pm, with Sunday matinees at 2 pm and Friday matinees on July 25 and Aug. 8 at 2 pm.
Tickets can be purchased by calling 920.743.1760 or visiting thirdavenueplayworks.org. TAP’s Steve and Jackie Kane Theatre is located at 239 N. 3rd Ave. in Sturgeon Bay.
