After a recent showing of Moonlight and Magnolias at Third Avenue PlayWorks (TAP), audience members participated in an exclusive talkback with the show’s cast and two Midwest filmmakers.

Onstage through June 21, TAP’s Moonlight and Magnolias shared a community partnership with Film Green Bay Inc. and local indie filmmaker Kurt Krauss’ new inspirational feature Amphibious. 

Currently in pre-production, the project is receiving donations throughout the show’s run. Michael Sajbel of Directors Guild of America is slated to direct the film, pending meeting the budget goal of $300,000. The team hopes to shoot locally.

Krauss and the film’s production coordinator, Rachel Engel, joined Moonlight and Magnolias’ cast members Rudy Galvan, Paige Klopfenstein, John Taylor Phillips and Nick Vidal on stage at TAP after a June 12 matinee performance. Presenters spoke with the play’s attendees, sharing insight into working in film, television and theater. The event was emceed by TAP’s Jackie and Steve Kane Artistic Director, Jacob Janssen. 

Krauss hopes to meet the production budget goals for Amphibious in 2026 through donations, partnerships and investors, and begin filming in 2027. For more information about the Amphibious feature and to stay up-to-date with future casting calls, visit amphibiousmovie.com.
