What do you want to leave behind?
This question beats at the heart of this play.
Legacy is a tricky thing. No matter how carefully we lay our plans, once we pass, we are no longer here to speak for them. Sometimes they are handed over to ill-equipped executors. To be clear, this play is not a pitch to get your will in order, though you probably should. Rather, it makes the case that a legacy is built in life. It is found in countless little interactions, kindnesses, friendships, and shared moments of joy. A legacy isn’t built only through the works one accomplishes, but most importantly in the memories of those we touched.
Undeniably, our hoped-for legacy looks different for everyone, but it seems universal that we all want to know we mattered to someone. My plea to you, then, is to get out there and live: share your joys and sorrows, and lend a hand to those who need it. It is in living that we build our legacies together.
