WOMT Radio in Manitowoc, WI, is proudly celebrating a century of broadcasting excellence!
The station, launched in 1926, was broadcast from the Mikadow Theater, which inspired the station call letters for “World’s Only Mikadow Theatre.” Francis and Lillian Kadow owned and operated the station until 1967 when it was purchased by Wisconsin Fuel & Light Company and was moved to its building on North 10th Street. Now owned by Mark Seehafer, WOMT’s studios and offices are located in their own building on Mangin Street in Manitowoc and have been operating from that location since 1980. For more than a century now, WOMT has proudly served the community with news, local sports, and information as WOMT has become the flagship station for Seehafer Broadcasting, home to a total of six radio stations: WOMT, WCUB, WLKN, Q102, Hot Country 92.1, and WEMP.
“I’m honored to continue my grandfather’s legacy and to help lead WOMT Radio into our next chapter,” said Terry Stevenson, Seehafer Broadcasting Vice President.
WOMT Radio will honor this milestone in 2026 with more than just an on-air celebration. There will be special events and giveaways with over $50,000 in cash and prizes given away throughout the year. Tune in to WOMT Fridays for a WOMT History Trivia question broadcast at a random time, call in to answer for a chance to win $100 and a shot at the grand prize of $12,400 given away in December. Terry Stevenson will also be out and about weekly, hiding an envelope of $100 in Manitowoc County with location clues posted on their facebook page. Stay tuned for even more opportunities to win this year!
Stevenson added, “As we enter this next chapter, that commitment [to serve the community] remains stronger than ever — with new original talk shows, podcasts, and expansions of some of your favorite Seehafer programs planned for 2026. This is more than an anniversary. This is a local legacy.”
