TAP Offers Acting Workshops

Third Avenue PlayWorks (TAP) will host summer and fall theater workshops led by community engagement and education coordinator Dan Klarer.

Summer workshops will be available for youth ages 8 to 12 from July 13 through 16, and teens ages 13 to 17 from July 27 through 30. All workshops are offered on a pay-what-you-will basis thanks to donor support.

Both youth workshops will be held from 9 am to 12 pm, Monday through Thursday, at TAP’s Steve and Jackie Kane Theatre, 239 N. 3rd Ave. in Sturgeon Bay. Each day will be a mix of improv and theater games, plus acting exercises with emphasis on creating an original mini play. No prior acting experience necessary. Each week-long session is limited to 12 participants, with a suggested price of $150.

Adult theater workshops will return in fall, held on Mondays from 4:30 to 6:30 pm, running for six weeks starting Sept. 28. Following the six-week session, theatre workshops will continue starting Nov. 2 on a drop-in basis.

These workshops will be focused on scene study and monologue preparation. Each day will begin with improv and theater exercises, followed by acting technique and character development for scene work. The six-week session has a suggested value of $150, and drop-in classes are a $25 value per week.

Klarer brings two decades of experience to these workshops.
