Illusionist & Entertainer David Kovac to Perform at TAP Annual Gala

Sturgeon Bay, WI (May 26, 2026) – Tickets are now on sale for the Third Avenue PlayWorks (TAP) Annual Gala to be held June 28, 2026, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Stone Harbor Resort in Sturgeon Bay. This event celebrates another year of sparking inspiration within the community, with creative partners, and on the TAP stage, and will feature entertainment by comedian and magician David Kovac during the event.

The annual gala is the heart of the organization’s fundraising efforts for the year and helps ensure TAP is able to bring meaningful theatrical experiences and vital education programs to audiences of all ages in Door County.

The 2026 gala will feature a silent and online auction, cocktail reception with heavy hors d’oeuvres plus one free drink, with entertainment by Wisconsin-born illusionist and entertainer, David Kovac. David has been nominated for Stage Performer of the Year at The Magic Castle in Los Angeles, the world-renowned, exclusive private clubhouse for the Academy of Magical Arts (AMA) and a premier performance venue for magicians. 

Tickets to the Annual Gala are available now for $125 each and sponsorships are available that include tickets to the event. RSVP is requested by June 12, 2026.

ABOUT DAVID KOVAC

Upon earning his fine arts degree in Acting from The Theatre School of DePaul University, David Kovac appeared in professional regional stage productions, winning critical acclaim for his portrayal of Applegate the Devil in the hit musical Damn Yankees! He also honed his unique skills as a comedic juggler, performing in well- known Chicago venues including Improv Olympic, Millenium Park, and even the historic Green Mill Jazz Club.

Mr. Kovac’s distinctive voice and likeness have been featured in numerous television and radio commercials, landing a Silver Microphone Award for his GMAC Real Estate campaign. His sharp improvisational skills serve him well in the role of corporate spokesperson for major technology companies, hosting large-scale national events such as Consumer Electronics Expo, Cisco Live and National Association of Broadcasters.

David Kovac has established himself as a beloved comedic entertainer and magical storyteller, with three solo performance pieces to his credit – Catching Fire, Amusing Grace, and Fooling Buddha – An Evening of Myth, Mystery & Infinite Jest! The Chicago Tribune crowned him a “Trickster Hero,” and professional travels have since included voyages to Australia, New Zealand, South America, Western Europe, Japan and Southeast Asia.

He currently resides in Los Angeles and has become a popular performer at Hollywood’s famed Magic Castle, where he now serves on the Board of Trustees. David Kovac is presently nominated for Stage Performer of the Year by The Academy of Magical Arts, for the third consecutive year.
