Focus
Your school or group visit can be geared toward various theatrical focuses, including:
- Lights & Sound
- General Theatre Tour
Your tour guide, Dan Klarer, is adept at weaving in a secondary focus for your school or group tour. He can speak to how students can translate theater skills and components into the school and how those tools can be used in the classroom. All tour information presented is adaptable to the group’s needs and the time available!
Ideal Group Size
The ideal size for a K-12 School and Group Tour varies depending on the purpose of the visit, but ranges from ten to twenty students.
Time Commitment
The time commitment for a K-12 School and Group Tour varies depending on the purpose of the visit, but generally you can expect:
- 2 hours for a performance or literacy-based theatre workshop
- 1 hour for a technical-based theatre tour (lights and sound)
- 30 minutes for a basic theatre tour
Space
Third Avenue PlayWorks has a large rehearsal space available as well as our main lobby and the Steve & Jackie Kane Theatre, with seating for 124 students.

Education Coordinator & Actor Dan Klarer
Dan is a professional theater artist living in Door County and works as an actor, fight director, stage manager, and costume designer. He has performed these jobs and more for theater companies around the Midwest including: Third Avenue PlayWorks, Peninsula Players, Northern Sky Theatre, Door Shakespeare, First Folio Theatre, Artists’ Ensemble, Theatre at the Center, Children’s Theatre Madison, Madison Ballet, Chicago Kids Company, and the Goodman Theatre. Dan has taught stage combat and worked at a variety of sanctioned workshops through the Society of American Fight Directors and Dueling Arts International as well as taught clowning, Shakespeare, and acting for young people. Dan received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama from UW-Stevens Point and his Master of Arts degree in Acting from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow.
