Professional Development

Focus

The focus of Professional Development with TAP’s Education Program is to engage creative and critical thinking, social-emotional learning, and cognitive development through theater exercises and games. Education Coordinator, Dan Klarer, will help professionals to explore growth in vocal and physical awareness, active listening, ensemble building, adaptability, and the discussion of failure and success.

Ideal Group Size

The ideal size for Professional Development with TAP’s Education Program ranges from ten to twelve professionals.

Time Commitment

The ideal time commitment for Professional Development with TAP’s Education Program is two to four hours.

Space

Third Avenue PlayWorks has a large rehearsal space available, otherwise a large classroom-sized space is sufficient, or we can come to you if that is more conducive for your professional development.

What To Expect

During Professional Development with Dan Klarer, your group will be led through a series of games and exercises including those based in the Spolin Improvisation method. There will be a vocal and physical warmup and exploration followed by activities showcasing various theater techniques.

Education Coordinator & Actor Dan Klarer

Dan is a professional theater artist living in Door County and works as an actor, fight director, stage manager, and costume designer. He has performed these jobs and more for theater companies around the Midwest including: Third Avenue PlayWorks, Peninsula Players, Northern Sky Theatre, Door Shakespeare, First Folio Theatre, Artists’ Ensemble, Theatre at the Center, Children’s Theatre Madison, Madison Ballet, Chicago Kids Company, and the Goodman Theatre. Dan has taught stage combat and worked at a variety of sanctioned workshops through the Society of American Fight Directors and Dueling Arts International as well as taught clowning, Shakespeare, and acting for young people. Dan received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama from UW-Stevens Point and his Master of Arts degree in Acting from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow.
