Third Avenue PlayWorks out of Sturgeon Bay has brought on two new team members. Janette Crancich, who has stepped into the role of General Manager, brings with her a lot of experience. Lisa K. Adams is the new Marketing & Events Manager for TAP, bringing a lifetime of theatre experience to her role.

The Community Partner for Ryan’s Pub, Trivia Night at Third Avenue PlayWorks in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, is JAK’s Place. A portion of the proceeds from the Pay-What-You-Will performance on September 24 will go towards our Community Partner. JAK’s Place will have a table in the lobby with more information and a place for donation during the run of Ryan's Pub, Trivia Night through October 12th, 2025.
When you check out a show at Third Avenue PlayWorks in Sturgeon Bay, there is a great chance that a person you have met before will appear on their stage. That is the case with TAP’s current production of The 39 Steps, a thrilling, fast-paced adaptation of the Alfred Hitchcock film of the same name. Artistic Director Jacob Janssen says the show, which runs through August 10th, has been well-received during its run, leading to a crunch on ticket availability. One of the stars of the show is Dan Klarer, a Sturgeon Bay resident who lives just blocks away from the theater. Janssen says TAP takes great pride in casting many local artists for their productions because of the remarkable talent that can be found throughout the county.
Third Avenue PlayWorks is launching its summer production of The 39 Steps this weekend at the Steve & Jackie Kane Theatre, kicking off a whirlwind theatrical experience filled with suspense, slapstick humor, and inventive storytelling.
The Thirty-Nine Steps by Buchan has been adapted multiple times and in various media since serialization in 1915. The list includes 4 films, 18 radio performances, 3 audio recordings, 1 theater adaptation, 1 television prequel, 1 Netflix miniseries (currently in production), and 1 video game.

In live theater, lighting does more than just allow viewers to see the actors’ faces – it also sets the mood and immerses the audience in the world of the show. Lighting designers like Guy Rhodes use light to convey subtle information about a scene and accompany the emotional beats of a show.
In conjunction with the production, TAP is partnering with local nonprofit the Sturgeon Bay Band Parent Organization for a pay-what-you-will preview on July 16, 7:30 pm. The organization assists directors to keep the band program up and running, with funds supporting scholarships for private lessons, band camps and other activities.
